Welcome to newsletter number 16. I hope you
like it. If you do, please tell others, if you don't, please tell me. If
you would like me to publish details about any of your equipment or products then please
send me some information. I discovered a new electric violin maker the other day when I looked in on a music shop I hadn't been to before. Emma Newton has setup a company called Rainbow violins. She supplies accoustic and electric violins in a wide range of colours and at a very afordable price. They certainly should appeal to young players starting out on the electric violin road. Her web site is at: http://www.rainbowviolins.com/ TCL have a new website and email address and so does as does David Guscott's Quiet Electric Stringed Instruments which you will find in the database. I have also added some of the Guscott instruments to the picture gallery. Aubrey Spurlock at Trout Cove Lutherie (TCL) has asked me to inform you that he sells piezo materials to pickup builders. "I carry PZT crystal, PVDF film, coaxial piezo, as well as other materials for building pickups (bridges, carpenter jacks, shielded wire etc.) I build pickups as well for just about any instrument. Check out my website, especially the ShopTip section." A few newsletters ago I told you about Rainbows (not to be confused with Rainbow violins mentioned above!) who sell brightly coloured bows and bow hair, they also have a new address at: http://www.ludikermusic.com/ I have had several requests for contact information for the Kurmann Soundpost. This was not in the list (it is now) although I have it in the Electric Violin book (subtle plug!). You can get information as follows: For brochure and/or more information please contact: I found an interesting page for any students thinking of making an electric violin as a research exercise. Have a look at: http://www.ugcs.caltech.edu/~kehinger/ee107/violin.html My mate Tim Phillips will be visiting the
States this summer and hopes to be at some festivals with his instruments. If you are
able, please visit him and say hello. He hopes to be at: New Zeta Prices for the U.K.: I have published a new Zeta price list for all of Zeta's
violins, violas, cellos and basses here in the U.K. Nearly all of the prices are
DOWN (around £300 cheaper) and in line with the US retail pricing. You can find
the list if you click on Zeta Instruments in my sidebar or click here to go direct: Previous
